Concrete Gutter Removal Process
The concrete gutter removal/replacement process can be completed without the need for scaffolding. We have invested heavily in supplying our team with the best of the best equipment. The latest Easi-dec equipment reduces the need for scaffolding, saving homeowners both money and hassle.
The concrete gutter removal/replacement process can be costly, deepening on how much work is required. However, the price is not as expensive as some might say, especially considering that opting for cheaper, poorly executed options is a false economy, often leading to further, more costly issues down the line.
Our fitters will arrive at your residence in the West Midlands, with their ready-to-assemble access equipment. This can be constructed and removed in the same day. This access equipment is fully compliant with HSE rules and regulations, unlike the ladder cripple alternatives popular with other companies in the industry. The process is then completed by using a diamond-tipped cutting blade, for more precise and accurate work.
As this process can be loud and dusty, only professionals like us should conduct the job. When jobs like this are done by anyone but experienced professionals, there is a risk that more problems will start to accumulate, especially when done the job is done wrong.
Once the old concrete gutters have been removed, our team will then install your new uPVC guttering, along with an E.P.S tray system to provide ventilation for your roof space. Then, once the new gutter has been installed, we will clean up any mess left behind using our Hippo heavy-duty waste bags.

Finlock Gutter Lining
If you need a more budget-friendly option, concrete gutter lining is the popular choice. This option allows homeowners to preserve their concrete gutters, without removing them. If you are looking for a cheaper method that still does the job, the lining procedure is the obvious choice. However, whilst the lining solution proves incredibly effective in the short term, we at Finlock make no attempt to hide the fact that lining solutions do not last forever.
We would prefer to be honest with you, rather than making a false promise that will leave you feeling disappointed. Having said this, we have tried-and-assessed many methods and have found that the lining solution remains a smart choice that will allow you to get rid of your problems for a considerable amount of time.
While concrete guttering removal is often considered the safer option, concrete gutter lining has many advantages and is well worth the investment.

Our experienced fitters will arrive at your property, with all the equipment required to complete the task. This job does not usually need scaffolding. However, this may differ if access to the area is particularly problematic.
Tiles will then be carefully removed, whilst the old linings are extracted. Debris will then be cleaned and removed from your guttering. Your new, clean gutters will then be painted with waterproof fibreglass, to preserve the waterproof qualities that gutters are supposed to have. If your house is terraced or semi-detached, we will also join your gutters to the neighbours’.
Next, an EPS system will be installed in your home. We believe this is an essential step, which many other companies skip. When the EPS tray is flash form fitted and your tiles are replaced, it ensures that no water can enter your home. The trays are then joined together so that none of the trays can slip or move.

The Issues with Concrete Gutters
Concrete gutters are known to have a have a lifespan of approximately 30 years. However, when they are not maintained properly, their lifespan may be much shorter. As briefly mentioned, concrete gutters can damage a homeowner’s property. Concrete gutters are made from a porous material, which means that rather than removing drainage water, the concrete will absorb it, thus making it heavier and causing more issues to arise.
Because concrete gutters absorb water, sagging is a frequent problem that occurs. This means your windows will start to sag, due to the drain water build up. This will make it harder to open and close your windows. Thermal bridging is another problem with concrete gutters; The heat from the inside of your home will escape more easily because your gutter is broken. This will lower the temperature within your home, as a result of escaping. This loss of energy and heat will lead to higher energy bills, especially in the winter.
Leakages are one of the most common problems that many homeowners face and are usually the first sign of problematic concrete gutters that homeowners will notice. Leaks will first appear in the corner of ceilings and will sometimes cause the wallpaper to peel, resulting in costly interior repairs.
External leaks from your concrete gutter can cause damp and mould to appear in your home as well. Issues with your concrete gutters will result in both interior and exterior issues, as well as expensive repairs in the future if left untreated.
Replace or Repair?
In light of the issues mentioned above, concrete gutters can either be lined or replaced. Whilst the lining process has its benefits and is the more budget-friendly option, lining is not as long-lasting as a full removal. At Finlock Removals, we therefore always advise opting for full removal/replacement where possible, to get rid of the problems entirely.
Cost
To prevent costly bills in the future, a replacement is highly recommended as a safer long-term solution. Whilst this is the more expensive upfront option, investing in concrete gutter replacement reduces any future costs and repairs caused by concrete guttering at your property, both internal and external.
